The Bureau of State Audits is the successor to the Office of the Auditor General, which closed in November 1992 after more than 37 years of distinguished service to California citizens. The Auditor General exposed a vast range of wasteful governmental practices. Its findings saved hundreds of millions of dollars and made a multitude of services more effective.
