Statewide Homelessness Data

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) discloses in its annual homeless report the results of what it refers to as a point-in-time count. This is a count of sheltered and unsheltered homeless persons carried out on one night in the last 10 calendar days of January or at such other time as HUD requires. Furthermore, HUD also administers homeless assistance grants for the Continuum of Care (CoC) Program. A CoC is a group of organizations organized to carry out the goal of ending homelessness within a specified geographic area. The interactive map and graphics below present point-in-time count information from across the State from 2017 through 2019. Although many factors can impact homelessness figures from year-to-year, the trends we present below are based on data reported to HUD by the CoCs during 2017 through 2019. Select a CoC on the map to view funding information and the number of homeless individuals for that CoC. You can also filter by legislative district to view funding information and the number of homeless individuals for all CoCs that reside either entirely or in part within the selected district.

HUD determines each CoC's allocation for homelessness funding in part by using a formula that relies on the CoC's geography.
