Fees and Bonuses
- You will be reimbursed for up to $100 per year for membership dues in a qualifying, job-related professional society, or for a job-related professional license fee.
- If you pass the CPA or CIA examination after November 30, 1986, you may qualify to receive a bonus of $4,800, paid in three equal installments of $1,600 at 12-month intervals.

Select the Medical coverage that's right for you. Eligible personnel choose their comprehensive coverage from various options, including a Point-of-Service plan and HMO plans coverage in many locations.
Our Dental plans help you keep your teeth in good shape. It emphasizes preventive dental care and early treatment to help you avoid more serious work later on. The plan offers coverage for diagnostic and preventive services, major and minor restoration, as well as orthodontia for dependent children under 19.
The State sponsors a vision insurance program through the Vision Service Plan and pays the premium.
When you know you are going to have health care or dependent care expenses, putting money in a Reimbursement Account can save you a bundle in taxes. Participants can reduce taxable income by designating before-tax dollars from their salary to reimburse themselves for certain eligible health care or dependent care expenses.
The Disability Program protects eligible personnel and their families from unexpected financial hardship by continuing a portion of your salary if you are unable to work because of a qualifying illness or injury. Both short- and long-term programs are available.
Deferred Savings 401(k) and 457 Plans
An added bonus. The 401(k) plan offers eligible staff members the opportunity for pre-tax savings. You may contribute up to 18% of your salary, subject to IRS limits.
These advantages make the 401(k) plan especially attractive:
- You have a range of investments to choose from.
- Federal income tax is deferred until the money is distributed to you.
- While employed with us you have access to your savings through loans and limited withdrawal provisions.
You may also supplement your retirement income by contributing to the 457 plan. Similar to the 401(k), the 457 plan is offered only to governmental employees.
Personnel are eligible to participate in the Public Employee Retirement System (PERS).
The cost of this plan is entirely paid by the State. The plan provides these advantages:
- Vesting of benefits.
- A competitive formula.
- A monthly income at normal or early retirement.
- Benefits to your surviving spouse if you are vested and die before benefits commence.
Staff members are automatically enrolled for $25,000 of group term life insurance coverage. Additional life insurance coverage can be obtained through the designated Insurance Plan.
Annual Leave
Employees are credited with 15 hours of leave per month after the completion of one month of continuous employment. This amount increases with your service time.
Personal Holiday
Full-time employees receive one personal holiday each fiscal year (July 1 through June 30), upon completion of a six-month probationary period.
Bereavement Leave
Full-time employees are authorized to receive three days of bereavement leave for the death of close relatives.
Holidays
Full-time employees receive 13 paid holidays per year.
